Project Owner/s
Lyra Energy – a renewable-energy platform comprising Scatec, Standard Bank and Stanlib, with Scatec owning 50% and the partners owning the remaining 50%.

Project Description
Thakadu is set to become one of South Africa’s most significant private-sector solar projects.

It involves the construction of a 255 MW solar power plant, which will be built in two phases.

Capital Expenditure
About R4-billion and will be financed by a combination of nonrecourse project debt and equity from the owners, with a target leverage of 80%. 

Planned Start/End Date
Construction is expected to start in the first half of 2026, with commissioning set to follow shortly thereafter.
